Michigan’s 10-Year Plan

Couple buying new home.

Meeting the Challenge to End Homelessness

In 2006, rising to the national and state challenge, 83 counties began being covered by the 60 CoC’s comprehensive 10-year plans to end homelessness. With Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) technical assistance, these plans were developed by community-based coalitions of local stakeholders, including homeless service organizations, churches, the business community and local government. These plans and groups have been organized into regional councils to make certain that limited resources are put to the best use.

With these plans in place and being enhanced, and baseline regional homelessness data established, even at this early stage in the 10-year campaign, several service areas have begun to lower the rate of homelessness.
